ATLANTA, GA (April 13, 2015)Encompass Digital Media, a global leader in mission-critical media capture, management and distribution services, announced today that it is partnering with V-Nova to deliver innovative video solutions to the media industry in three specific areas, namely delivery of: 1) contribution quality video via the Internet at a lower cost than fiber; 2) high quality streaming media over-the-top using substantially less bandwidth than is required today; and 3) 4k and 8k UltraHD television via satellite to cable systems using substantially less bandwidth which will be backwards compatible with existing H.264 distribution. V-Nova’s PERSEUS embraces the future of video distribution and shows a massive shift in the entire video-bitrate-quality landscape enabling UltraHD quality at HD bitrates, HD at SD bitrates, and SD video at audio bitrates. The relationship allows both companies to better serve clients by delivering more compelling video experiences across platforms with dramatically reduced bandwidth requirements.

“As a leading provider of media and broadcasting infrastructure, Encompass is constantly on the lookout for ground-breaking innovations. We have partnered with V-Nova based on the product maturity and years of testing they have undergone in professional broadcasting. This separates PERSEUS from the many less mature compression technology offerings that we often hear about. The fact that PERSEUS provides over 3x compression and is simultaneously backward compatible with the existing ecosystem (e.g., H.264) and video assets makes V-Nova’s PERSEUS offering highly attractive,” commented Chris Walters, Encompass’ CEO.

“The broadcast television industry is witnessing a major transformation in how viewers screen content – the demand is predominately for high-quality video delivered to any device. It is imperative that we continually provide our customers with the ability to deliver their content in the most efficient and cost-effective manner in any format, on any platform, anywhere in the world,” commented Alan Young, Encompass’ CTO.

“We are extremely proud to work with an industry leader like Encompass. The combination of Encompass’ global infrastructure with V-Nova’s ground-breaking PERSEUS compression performance provides a highly compelling offering”, states Guido Meardi, V-Nova CEO & co-Founder. “The fact that PERSEUS integrates seamlessly with existing hardware, decoding devices and workflows means that our partners and customers can benefit in the near term within existing infrastructure and bandwidth capacity.”

“The Encompass partnership highlights the benefits and broad applicability of both the PERSEUS technology and the coalition around it,” remarked Eric Achtmann, V-Nova Executive Chairman & co-Founder. “Together with Encompass, we are solving current challenges, creating new offerings and improving economics for customers – we are making ‘The Impossible’ possible, and ‘The Possible’ more profitable.”

Encompass Digital Media, a global leader in mission-critical media capture, management and distribution services, announced today that it has added a broadcast-focused mux to its North American satellite platforms, Intelsat’s G-19. By occupying a full transponder, Encompass provides its clients with a cost-effective, premium location for their digital sub-channels (D2).

“We have seen a steady increase in our digital sub-channels business over the last year,” states Vince Matherne, Chief Product Officer for Encompass. “G-19 provides D2 clients a home on a broadcast-friendly satellite with the ability to launch on a channel-by-channel basis on a fully saturated transponder. Each new channel launched is then instantly available to broadcast stations typically without additional antenna resources being deployed.”

Encompass has worked closely with network distributors to develop technology that fits the unique requirements of the D2 market including advanced secondary event triggers and reduced throughput to enhance the primary distribution of off-air stations. Currently, four uniquely distinct D2 programmers have launched on Encompass’ G-19 broadcast-focused transponder and another channel will be added in April.

Regional leader in global satellite and terrestrial connectivity and digital media services provider closes 2014 with its latest achievement – uplinking 16 full-time C-band carriers to 16 complete transponders over six satellites

SINGAPORE, 22 January, 2015 – Encompass Digital Media, one of the world’s top digital media services providers and a leader in global satellite terrestrial connectivity, today announced its latest milestone on its journey of growth and achievements. With the recent transitioning of our customer uplinks, it is now officially transmitting 16 full-time C-band carriers to 16 complete transponders spread over six different satellites from its facility in Singapore, making Encompass one of the largest third-party Teleports in Asia.

“We have come a long way over the past four years. In 2010, we were only operating five carriers on Gen 2 and 3 Klystron Power Amplifiers (KPA),” said Deepakjit Singh, Managing Director, Encompass Digital Media Asia. “Now, through sheer hard work and determination, we have not only expanded capacity, but also upgraded the KPAs and added multiple Traveling-Wave-Tube Amplifiers (TWTAs) and overhauled the power system to chart the way for future growth and expansion.”

Today, Encompass uplinks to several satellite operators including Intelsat, MEASAT and AsiaSat which is a testament to the consistent quality and reliability of its services.

“Encompass has proven to be a reliable Teleport service partner for Intelsat, and we have valued the level of support and services they have provided to us over the years. We look forward to working with Encompass in the future and ensuring that we continue to distribute compelling content to our customers across multiple screens,” said Terry Bleakley, Regional Vice President, Asia Pacific, Intelsat.

“We would like to congratulate Encompass on reaching this impressive milestone, capped by the addition of a network on MEASAT-3a,” said Raj Malik, Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd.

“Our partnership with Encompass helped grow MEASAT’s 91.5°E orbital location into Asia’s leading video hotslot. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Encompass as we both continue to expand our businesses in the region.”

This latest milestone caps off a successful 2014 for Encompass Digital Media Asia, which launched a state-of-the-art broadcast monitoring and playout facility, with multi-channel and multi-format for linear and over-the-top (OTT) delivery capabilities in May. The US$7 million broadcast monitoring facility offers broadcasters an infrastructure that enables expansion, allows the launch of a new channel every two-and-a-half weeks, provides significant reduction time to any anomalies and reduces book-to-build time to less than three weeks. The fully automated, end-to-end central monitoring system is built on the back of iControl – the world’s most advanced, fully automated integrated monitoring and control system.

“While we closed the year on a high note, we look forward to the opportunities in 2015 to further expand our capabilities in our quest to become the top-choice provider of digital media service and fulfill Singapore’s vision to become a global media hub,” said Deepakjit Singh.

World Teleport Association Publishes Top Operator Rankings for 2014

(New York, NY, December 9, 2014) – The World Teleport Association (WTA) published its annual rankings for the Top Teleport Operators of 2014. The annual rankings of companies by revenue and revenue growth are compiled by surveying teleport operators around the world as well as referencing the published results of publicly-held companies.
