Encompass uses shortwave to deliver content to millions of listeners around the world, using the most basic, inexpensive and widely available radio receivers. We work with some of the world’s best renowned international broadcasters to target ‘lifeline’ audiences, particularly in remote regions of the world where access to other forms of media is either unavailable or tightly controlled.
Medium wave is similar to shortwave, but over shorter distances. Encompass uses medium wave radio to deliver a combination of local, national and international radio services. Working best at night, this provides a much wider coverage for our clients, by using a single transmitter. MW (or AM) radio receivers are universal across the globe, meaning audiences need only the simplest of equipment to hear the content.
Encompass uses FM for national and local broadcasting in the 88-108 MHz band. FM radio is capable of delivering high quality, stereo audio as well as associated program related data.
DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) is a digital radio standard widely used in the UK, Europe and many other countries. Encompass helps broadcasts from conventional terrestrial transmission masts much like FM, and providing similar coverage. DAB can also provide additional on-screen information about program content or other data provided by the broadcaster, delivering a more efficient listening experience.
Supported by Encompass, DRM also known as Digital Radio Mondial – an international digital radio standard designed by broadcasters in cooperation with transmitter and receiver manufacturers. Using a similar technology to DAB, it is a high-quality digital replacement for analogue radio broadcasting such as medium wave and shortwave. When used on traditional shortwave frequencies, DRM can deliver multiple high-quality audio services over long distances and cover very wide areas using just a single transmitter.
With facilities in Europe, America, the Middle East and Asia and supported by strong relationships with leading satellite operators, Encompass distributes your content via our cost-effective network covering over 90% of the globe. This enables us to source the most effective footprint, working closely with you to use satellites to maximum advantage and bringing you the benefits of our experience, technology, infrastructure and global reach.
